At Dot Transportation, nothing is more important than the safety of our drivers and those with whom they share the road. We take a lot of pride in our Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) scores as our Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) scores–both among the best in the industry.
While it’s just one person behind the wheel, everyone at Dot Transportation has a responsibility to each other to ensure that we’re doing everything we can to keep our crew safe. A lot goes into our safety preparations and training and it’s not something we take lightly. So just what sets Dot Transportation apart from the pack when it comes to safety?
Our Training:
Every new driver, regardless of experience level, must complete a comprehensive training program that combines classroom instruction and over-the-road learning alongside an experienced driver trainer who is there to help drivers learn the ins and outs of the equipment, the job, and the lifestyle.
Generally, a driver’s training will span between eight and 12 weeks. Experienced drivers generally need less time whereas inexperienced drivers tend to be on the higher end. And no driver is sent out on their own until both they and the trainer agree it’s time.
Our Equipment:
DTI operates a fleet of more than 1,700 trucks which are serviced and maintained in our in-house garages by skilled technicians. Governed at 68 miles per hour, our trucks are equipped with the latest safety features and we are always testing out new options to make the cabs as safe as possible.
Our Team:
And last but not least, the most important resource we have is our team itself. We want every driver to know they are not alone on the road and that any support they need is just a phone call away. Dot Transportation has a team of people dedicated to safety, training, compliance, risk management, and doing all we can to keep drivers safe. Our trainers, our dispatchers, our transportation managers, and our technicians all work together to make sure our drivers have the resources and support they need to get the job done.
